From the Camp Nine camera, new fire on the left?

Believe that is the left flank slowly working it’s way towards I5 in the Grapevine. Frazier Peak 2 camera has a pretty good look at it.

UPDATE: 1 hour later, it is no longer in slow mode and is making a major push on its own.

If there is an increase in flanking activity at the heel of the fire as it appears to be getting into alignment on the cams, we could be looking at a duplicate run of fire behavior during the initial ops period given the weather now in place for the extended future.

Would be nice if we could get continuous video and data from the fire. Anyone seen these guys fly this year? https://overwatchaero.com

Ya but it has a long ways to go still before it touches the 5… just drove the 5… is heading that way tho

Very true, and it may never get there, but was using I5 as point of reference towards clarifying what was happening on that left flank in reference to there being a question about a potential separate fire from the main run earlier.

Does anyone know why one day there is a column and then the next day there isn’t. Seems silly to be putting more fire down when there are other incidents trying to get equipment

The fire is hung up in some nasty country. Last night it slopped over The Dozer line in Foxtrot. The decision was made to burn off the dozer line rather than insert FF’s into almost 100 year old fuel with horrible access.

Sounds good to me better safe than sorry.

What is the plan tonight if the fire gets outside of the dozer line with the winds? Tie it into Castaic Lake?

Yes, let it run to the Lake and try and pick it up if it squirts around the side. Calling for winds 20-30 mph out of the Northwest. Humility will drop into the Teens after Midnight.
