Cannot post images due to site issue but Coalinga area is getting hammered with lightning from quick moving storms and lightning fires are now visible
FKU toning out response to hwy 198 & parkfield
2 small fires, both controlled, so far.
Joaquin ridge, New Idra, Parkfield all had separate fires seen between 0330 and 0530. Rain came through and slowed them down which allowed them to get people on them it looked like. Might be a interesting day in the coast range.
It’s not really fire season until you get to spend a couple weeks in Coalinga.
Cal Fire version of Happy Camp

Both Joaquin Ridge and San Benito Mtn showing lots of active fire still
So true. Old CDF Murrieta FFS Foreman.
Worked Coalinga for 5-6 years and the west side for nearly 7. Fast moving fires with receptive fuels and aligned winds. Have to move quickly, make good decisions and follow through and be able to adjust on the fly when they are not going your way. Always loved the fact that we were the Cal Fire Happy Camp. It was a fact I used to make my crews tougher, smarter and more well trained. If you keep moving and put in the work overnight then these fires are very catchable in the first burn period. I am hoping that is what happened here. If you don’t do the work early, everyone pays in the heat for a couple weeks.

Do you have command?
CDF CMD1 is assigned, not sure if in use. First day of extended attack should still land on fixed infrastructure, so check the CDF Commands, or any county command net. It’ll take a few days to string up portable gear.
