Yes, Camp 9 is on the N/E side of Isabella. It’s a blacktop parking area devoid of any shade or shelter and well known as a tough place to go during 100+ degree days-especially if your on night operations.
I’m a little lost on the one off of 58. All the ICP/Bases I was involved in were well off the 58 in Golden Hills, Bear Valley, Stallion Springs, etc. The only wide spot near 58 might have been the Keene fire station/crew base and helibase.

Yeah Keene sounds familiar and the only place I remember being worse than camp 9 was on the Rough when we were moved down to Orange Cove

Last season I was so stoked to be headed up there for the first time to a icp on lake Isabella. Found quick would be a rough 14. No shade, not much resources, hot… kinda sucked lol

@RedFive @IMT_Geek I think he’s talking about the old school converted to the hand crew camp/training facilty.

Back 10-15 years ago the N/F mill made a decent ICP and or Helibase, but it’s all parcelled out now. The only place for a large camp on the north end of the SNF is Ahwanee or Mariposa fairgrounds for a smaller camp.

When the lake is full and is green, nice.
When it’s dry, empty and 100+ - “Lake Isa-hella”

That’s what it looked like, we were staged there, not really set up as ICP
