CALFIRE IMT ordered.
Watching the 1 hour loop on Hamilton 2 it really took off at sunset
The NAM has wind gusts approaching 20 MPH later tonight out of the WNW. Tomorrow the GFS and ECMWF increase winds to 35 MPH tomorrow evening.
We are responding with our Dozer. Not sure what that ground will look like. Is it Dozer friendly?
Itâs mostly logging land so shouldnât be too bad but there have been close calls with dozers getting sideways on rocks⌠use those HEQBâs scout it out
Very dozer friendly.
Is Cal Fire LMU HQ right on the edge of Susanville in the direct path of this thing?
I donât know the direct path but given the evacuations id say yea itl be damn close. Letâs hope they can keep it out of Susanville, itâll have the paradise effect and that town might not recover.
There is a huge difference in the fuel models comparing the cities of Paradise and Susanville. In a lot of areas on the west side of town once the fire hits the city limits the only fuel that will be available are structures (although there are hundreds of structures just within and outside the limits that this doesnât apply to). Whereas in Paradise there was a lot of timber within the city and a different brush and needlecast component that the city of Susanville just doesnât have.
I wasnât referring to the fuel load but more of the home loss on the west side with all the older homes. Not to mention how a high majority of them are owned or lived in by low income households. It would devastate that part of town.
Hopefully it doesnât play out like that. Also, Paradise was a rapid event, at least if the fire gets to Susanville, there will be sufficient resources on hand.
Agreed. Susanville doesnât have the evacuation problems or fuel loading around structures that Paradise did. Still a concern, but not like Paradise.
Anyone have a link to the Box account for the incident?
They do not have a completed one online yet. The team is just prepping the docs now, either for this shift or next shift.
SIFC phone lines and internet out of service. Unsure if related to fire.
Internet and phones lines run down Hwy 44. Most likely the problem.
