07/30/2018 1920 CA-LNF Whaleback Fire: 14,798 acres timber, brush, 20% contained. Evacuation order remains for the community of Spaulding and numerous campgrounds in the area. Road closures remain for portions of County Roads A21, A1 and USFS Road 231. Threats continue to private timberlands, Osprey Managment Area, Eagle Lake Fisheries and cultural resources, Antelope Lookout, LMUD utility lines.

Critical Resource Needs:

Overhead positions needed to provide adequate fire line supervision: 4 HEQB’s, 2 TFLD’s 2 SOFR’s, 2 type 2 IA hand crews and 2 type 2 crews needed for
fire line prep and roadside mop up. 2 SOFR’s, and 4 EMPF’s to provide incident support. 2 masticators to increase capacity for fire line prep.
