The MMU Timber Lodge Fire burned in this same general area, August 2, 1962. MMU and SNF jointly responded. The SNF Jerseydale engine was burned over near the intersection of Carstens Road and Ponderosa Way.
SNF Foreman Thomas Foley, FF Mario Giorgi, FF John Rasch and FF Raymond St. Pierre were killed while Roy Chapin and Kent Stoel were seriously burned.
I believe FF Girogi or St. Pierre was a Soil Conservation Service Technician who stopped to assist. Kent Stoel went on to be the Principal or VP of the Mariposa High School.
