I definitely agree with this. Should have been done months ago. Folks opposed to this just don’t understand how bad conditions are, how far below drawdown we are and how critical it is to do everything possible to prevent that next start
You have a great day too sir, now that my year in advance planned backpack trip has been canceled by the USFS I need to figure out something to do on this little vaca. What’s really sad is the small backpacking shop that I walked into to grab a couple last minute things and hear him talking to an employee about maybe going out of business. All because of government. Also I have a few friends that have lost homes but I haven’t seen pge shut down. They’ve burned most of this state down, not some back packers and fisherman.
I kind of put this into the somewhat recent beach band for Covid. No you can’t stop all people from accessing them, no you cannot police all ‘closed’ areas.will it stop everything? No. Might it lessen issues. Yes Hopefully these notices will make people think twice about what they’re doing. Whether people heed or not is unknown but if cause a few people to reevaluate their plans than great.
Firefighters don’t care if they shut down the forests, we’re still going out in them, and getting paid to do so. But this is wrecking many rural communities economies. Should we be giving them a bailout due the lockdown?
Last year…
Sometimes it’s just the matter of closing a gate and you can’t drive around it.
I had a couple of wilderness permits cancelled today, and I’m cool with it. The timing was strange. I was talking to a ranger maybe an hour before the announcement, and he didn’t know.
Labor Day weekend is traditionally the last holiday-maker shit-show of the season and resources are thin. The hills that aren’t burning are bone-dry. Bad combination. If you’re not working this weekend, have a good one.
