It really shows the effectiveness of having quick launching of numerous air resources! A few years ago, this would have been much larger or extended op. Great job all around.
Yes, the state has 3 EU LATS and 11 EU T1 Helicopters. But California isn’t seeing the number of starts that has occurred the last several years. So the system isn’t being overwhelmed like it has been.
512 on the Plumas as well
The is not the summer of last year where the fuels were at critical levels a lot earlier. As Ehosse84 stated not as many starts therefore not as many resources committed. And as stated above having MCC in the mix the turn around to is so much quicker. IA resources everywhere are doing a hell of a job. As of this morning TCU had all 22 engines all dozers and aircraft in the Unit. Last year at this time they were all over the state. Looking at the fire yesterday and the one they had a few days back. The fuels look like they are ready to burn with the spots they are having. I think both fires were very good IA stops! Also not forgetting the ships if a water source is close than can deliver a big punch.
Watched & listened to fire fight this afternoon at the
#PleasantFire. Great catch at less than 50 acres! Impressive! Is a fine testimony that today’s
fire warriors engage & value an aggressive air & ground integrated operation. Proud of you!
This fire was also very close to GVAAB, and the fire area has a large, very accessible pond right next to the fire (so close I actually wonder if it was useable due to smoke)
