AA ordered an additional air tanker, type 3 twin engine or better.
AA had originally ordered 2 type 1 copters. No fills yet, but dispatch offered him the super scoopers that are in Lake Tahoe.
Gotta love it–UP train just stopped IN THE FIRE. Oops–someone did not get the word!
Both scoopers from Tahoe enroute. 260 and 263 are the A/C. Of course, will be using Sac arm of Shasta Lake, in the Slaughterhouse Island area, to load. Quick load and return.
From SHF…The fire is now at 20 acres and 50% contained. Firefighters are making good progress and will work into the night. 2 Scooper planes have been working in tandem dropping water on the fire. Crews are on both sides of the river protecting the railroad tracks.
AA released this morning, and the rotor craft released to their bases. Watched this thing peter out once the sun set. Great stop!
