the plowshare peak cam shared by op has an impressive timelapse
I believe this is Valley Fever country. Heads up and have a tailgate session about it.
This is near the Spanish ranch. It’s a mile or two east of Spanish ranch which had a burn over many years ago.
Is there a known icp?
As stated above - if ever there was a reason to keep one foot in the black and minimize any indirect attack as much as possible & be wary of the winds - it is this country. We owe it to our fallen to keep that in mind. Always remember the crew of CDF Engine 5373 who were lost on the Spanish Ranch Fire, August 15th 1979: Scott Cox, Ron Lorant, Steve Manley, and Ed Marty.
This is the same area and the fire has already reached Carrizo Canyon where the burn over happened
Note for those watching the air show, I believe there is a training air attack, AA17V is in tow behind AA340.
It’s almost 4:00, and the NWS Hourly suggests the winds may increase between now and 8:00p, but slows significantly after that, overnight temps in and around 60º tonight…
if they can catch it overnight tomorrow might not be terrible, but if they can’t…

What is the fuels like in the Carrizo Monument? looks like thats where its headed
Does history say this gets a team and takes a few days or is this going to blow over to grasslands and burn itself out? I’m not super familiar with this region
Santa Maria is sending all S-2s to Paso to load.
Because of the size now it’s very possible. Tonight will tell all tales.
Makes good sense. Quicker turn around given the amount of fixed wing.
Does anybody know whether this has jumped the 166 anywhere?
Coming into Carrizo now, that thing is impressive
Took the kids to SMX to watch the air show and the S2’s were cycling through one after the other along with the LAT’s on the west side but it seemed like they got backed up after a few cycles. Send to Paso allows more time for the mixing with the longer flight time since the wheels were only off the ground for 15-25 mins.
The 10 Tanker crew on the east side were hustling as well. It takes almost twice as long to fill up T-911 than the round trip is. Gunna be interesting when T-912 shows up in a little.
Wondering when the MKU and sleeper trailers are coming. Not much within 120minutes of there. Good times. Remember SPANISH RANCH.
Richardson Park!!
MKU on a Fed fire? Not likely…not impossible, but…
Mku on a fed fire happens more than you think.
