There are quite a few new fires smoking in the North Yuba River Canyon, between Goodyear’s Bar and Sierra City. This is some of the most difficult ground in the Northern Sierra, and it has very sparse large fire history.
Other new smokes are popping up which are not yet in the NIFC mapping system.

For example the Downie fire with what I’m guessing is the Quartz fire in the background. All supposedly still small but doesn’t look fun to get to. Spotted another in the panorama, unsure of its name…
