CA-YNP-Dome??

A/G traffic is pretty low with several mentions of supporting crews at Ostrander Lake.

EDIT Update @ 12:30, AA with Branch 10 summary that fire down in Bridalveil Creek was heating up and SE corner were priority concerns. Yesterday’s NE spots were either held in check with retardant or were burning into natural control features.

Looking from the meadow fire scar to the dome, the smoke is moving south now that the wind shifted.

Let’s hope the meadow fire keeps its place as the largest timber fire in eastern Fresno/Kings this year. A whole 1/4 acre.

Well said Toad. And thank you. We are doing the best we can.

Helco is busy (along with the hotter dryer weather) fire is picking up activity this morning. Copters are getting engaged with crews.
Priorities are Div. A and K. A new Division is being mapped as Div. T.
Smoke conditions are soupy in some areas and hampering visibility.
EDIT: Helco asked about the plans for the spot way outside…Sending crew to staff it, near the Div.M symbol on the map.

EDIT @ 12:15: Helco requesting fixed wing retardant drops in Div. Z… Lead Plane enroute. Fire is approaching a stand of Timber.

B78 is on scene as Lead, briefed with Helco ordering 3 LATs and the VLAT out of Mc Clellan. Both LATs out of Fresno. The Sacramento aircraft is North Ops, hopefully they approve them.
Work active SE corner of fire, in Div. Z and check the activity that crews are coping with.
Tankers 103, 122, 167, 01, 910.
Air Tactics remains 172.25.

Div.Z line was completed @15:00 and tankers are returning to work in Div. M and Div.M completed @ 16:30.
Tankers diverting to LA County…

But I did get a 30 degree drop in temp, enough rain to wet the ground and RH jumped up more to over 80%. Take advantage of the weather window. I not questioning the dedication of the troops on the ground and air trying to do their job. It’s steep, rugged and full of snags is what it sounds like. Given those conditions maybe it should of been smashed Sept 15 at 08:15 when reported.
When you have to ask the East coast to get permission to drop the red stuff on the west coast the system has already failed. When you daisy chain up to seven ships a day or call in Vlats and Lats once or twice a week maybe something not working. I agree a lot of the back country needs and should be burnt off and cleaned up. Do it under the right conditions when the opportunity presents itself. It looks like it’s getting nuked on some of these days. Just maybe some Policies in Washington need to be looked at and reviewed when it comes to Fire in the Wilderness.

So what you’re saying is…
The Crescent Wrench is not the end all, be all of tools. Rather its one tool in the tool box that an amateur mechanic uses. When the master mechanic has invested a lifetime of blood, sweat, tears, and lifetime of $$$ to have a tool box with 100’s if not 1000’s of different tools.

All kidding aside, you are :100: spot on. If only California and Washington could find common ground…

AA seeing/discussing a flair-up in Bridalveil creek with Del Rosa Crew. Can’t tell if its challenging the retardant.
Very low copter radio traffic so far today.

I’m boots on the ground i come on here looking for insight on things i may not be seeing from my vantage point. Fire updates on incidents, tacs, incoming resources, etc. There are plenty of threads on this forum for politic-ing and policy. When the operational threads turn to policy or opinion, just makes this place feel like facebook.

Us boots appreciate the info on here and the folks that are always staying on top of the radio or have friends on teams or high places, with good info. Helps build SA on the ground.
