modcamo, you are right on. This thread has been interesting /informative but I fear divisive. IMHO all the posters are in many respects accurate as they see it, but I fear some are turning a blind eye/ear on the discussion.
I feel all of us as FIREFIGHTERS can disagree about the means, but must never disagree about the issues. My thoughts as a 38 year Firefighter, Sched A, B, C and special assignment, is that we need to take emotion out of our discussions (almost impossible) and step back and ponder the discussion. The answers/solutions are within your thoughts and comments.
