Feds status check

DOGE has zero authorities to make Government Employees to answer his group organzation questions, and report to him. Nor has authority to fire employees. Same with OPM. The chain of command still applies for employees. Department heads already told their employees do not answer. Turning into a chit show personally.

Ohhhh and then recinds the email letter and called it a joke. With OPM back tracking with a follow up email and said it’s only voluntary. Then proceeds today to send another email with the same chit for a “second chance” to respond or fired. Heads of department did the right thing with telling their employees don’t answer. More courts cases to come….

The President talked about it on live television that those who do not respond to the e-mail will be fired…He was saying it is not difficult to respond to the e-mail. Can’t get much higher than that.
I do question the supervisors who fire folks who were literally working fires at the time and/or have red card quals and or recent response to fires. I wonder if some upper management is doing things outside of the intent of the RIF. For example, the newly promoted FS Captain let go because he was a proby. He was fire personnel and therefore exempt under the directive, but if someone wanted to jack with the system ??

All is not what it seems. Orders given, but not followed or misinterpreted???
Not the first time.

If this was even done remotely right. The President can instruct OPM to notify all heads of departments and others who do not fall under OPM HR to review all “under performing employees” to be fired. Even then depends how they handled those employees with reprimand and documented. Or else it would end up in a law suit. So to think not to answer these questions will result in a firing offense? Yeah ok, even if coming from the president. There will be law suits and the government will lose. Make no mistake. Elon is running the purge, not the president. He needs to start governing and the fracturing within the party is starting.

I am not aware of ANY wildland fire staff getting let go, whether on probation or not. as for the supervisors firing people…there was no decision space for supervisors or forest supervisors to have any input at all. The direction for terminations came from the regional level.

As for the email request, naw not responding to that. reported as spam just like the “fork in the road emails”

To say no Wildland Fire positions have been affected is wrong. Primary and Secondary Fire positions have not been fired but it has affected employees that have been laid off for the winter and the inability to bring them back on into pay status. There have been apprentices showing up to the academy and being sent home because they are not in pay status.

Sounds like agencies are getting the ok to hire returning seasonal staff (fire and aviation) just another step HR has to take in order to onboard.
That does suck for the folks that were delayed.

Poor language on my part, when I said affected, I was referring to terminations. I’m well aware that start dates have been pushed back, and bringing back the permanent seasonals was delayed mainly due to the union.

Pubic Safety personnel were exempt from the order. But that still leaves many questions like seasonal s returning this year, especially when the federal fiscal year ends every October, right during the middle of the fire year. And what about A.D’s? There’s a big pile of money AND personnel? Also the material needed to run a base camp.
