Meanwhile, In Europe…

“Wildfires swept across parts of Italy, France and Spain on Wednesday, killing three firefighters and forcing thousands to flee as scorching temperatures and strong winds fueled the blazes.”

I caught a headline from Yahoo News that arsonists in Italy tied gasoline soaked rags to the tails of cats and set them ablaze, helping the fires to spread.

I did an AI search wanting to know motive of such arson. What I got indicated arson is common in Italy and could be used for any number of different for profit actions. My first reaction was terrorist, but AI seems to think this is just run of the mill criminal activity.

Terrorism I’d expect something more deliberate or calculated. A burning rag attached to a cats tail is just straight run of the mill nut behavior (which I’d say from my career) which is more typical with spree arsons.

Apparently in some parts of Europe it’s also mafia strategy. It’s some sick behavior, either way.
