Edit, 08/29/25 @ 1020..
The only update to the story i can find as of now. Also, Mod’s - two other threads were created after i posted the original one above - please adjust the content as necessary, or not..
Wow. Apparently it’s been burning for more than two months. Had an uptick yesterday.
Thinking this one is perhaps a big deal - perhaps one for record books - as far as fire on the Olympic Peninsula goes?! It sure has persisted - and that crazy early season atmospheric river event didn’t put a fork in it by any means!? #significantfire
A persistent fire in a rainforest? I’m a layman but I dare assume that is abnormal in a historical context.
There’s another, newer fire in the region, too. Smaller but showing some persistence. The Tunnel fire is 372 acres according to WD, and first mentioned there on Sep 6.
I’d rather talk about historic fires in a rainforest than un-nicer humans tarnishing the profession. This just hit my feed.. This is about as far away from Duty, Respect & Integrity as you can get.
Astonishing stupidity exhibit. No need to wonder what they were thinking, because they weren’t.
Starting to give new meaning to the term “mossback”
