What can civilians do to help?

Really glad to hear your home made it through the Bobcat Fire — and that your husband got the chance to personally thank some of the firefighters. That kind of dedication is just incredible and deserves all the appreciation in the world.

In terms of support from civilians, there’s actually quite a bit that makes a difference:

  • Donate to local firefighter support funds or associations.
  • Encourage wildfire preparedness in your neighborhood — brush clearing, defensible space, evacuation plans.
  • Advocate for proper funding and resources for fire departments.
  • Show gratitude — even something simple like dropping by the station with snacks or thank-you cards is appreciated more than most people realize.

A lot of community support can also come from grassroots organizing, neighborhood drives, or even setting up online store for digital products to help raise funds or awareness.

Appreciate you asking — more folks thinking this way makes a real difference.
