Had to watch & listen twice.. 
Two things come to mind. 1 - They’re freaking nuts! 2 - They’re freaking lucky they are in a train - better get moving b4 tracks burn up..

A WAG using heat signatures in Caltopo puts the fire in the first image near 156,000 acres. Other fires to the north are certainly bigger and still growing together. Also, a few of these fires have crossed the international border both ways. Does anyone know how such fires would be managed considering the complications that would arise due to an international border cutting a fire in two?

I want to laugh but cant. Worry & concern for the extreme level of ignorance and arrogance demonstrated by the authors of that letter is preventing me from making light of it!
Also making me wonder if any Michigan or neighboring state’s land management officials were consulted before this letter was drafted. 
Hopefully Canada tells Michigan to kiss their gritt’s & get wildfire informed before running their mouths again.
Do you think the Michigan Legislature is preparing a letter for mother nature demanding that she change the jet stream & weather patterns of this hemisphere?

Ontario fire history since 1960, but these fires are ‘unprecedented’…
Interesting that many of the past fires have run SW>NE, but the current ones are pointing more to the SE. Maybe that’s why we are getting more smoke?

That’s what happened with the last letter and they are wholely unaware that we have been helping Canada with their fires over many years. For me this type of response would be embarrassing knowing what I know but sadly it’s just par for the course when people haven’t breathed smoke for parts of a summer and think fires magically get put when you throw people and equipment at them.

It’s not all Canada… There are six lightning fires burning at the northern border of Minnesota, totaling over 20k acres right now, 0% containment, with hardly any resources on them. I’m sure that’s contributing to the smoke-

It looks like one or two of these fires started in the U.S., crossed the US/Canada border, and then crossed back into the U.S…

We talked a bit about the fire ecology of the Boundary Waters on tonight’s Lookout Livestream. Also looked at initial heat satellite data for the ROBUST new lightning bust in Eastern Oregon.
