209 Summary Briefing -- resource need section

Okay gurus. I have a question about the 209 summary briefings.

As you may know, North ops posts short briefing 209 summary reports daily, like the one linked below. In the 12, 24, 48, 72 hour resource needs section, are those new resources needed in addition to what is assigned currently, or are those the total resource needs for the fire?

For example, if the 12 hour need is “10 Strike Teams Charlie” and there are already 8 STC’s on the fire, does that mean they need 10 more for a total of 18, or does that mean they need 2 more to bring it to 10?

It means in your example in addition to what already exists on the incident. The 215 process for the next op period determines this need.

AND…oftentimes they ask for the world, knowing that the reality is they may get a fraction of their request. It’s a constant juggling act!
