This fire sort of got lost in the shuffle with the Pipeline/Haywire working - but this one grew 5K acres and has just gone to GO evac status for Kitt Peak Observatory.
I am about 40 miles north of fire and getting significant drift smoke this afternoon.
This one grew about 5K acres today and is close to 7K total.
Image is from a couple of days ago - but the evacs just happened tonight.
Picture is a bit deceiving. It’s not even on the hill that the observatory is on, but right at the base of it, with a decent retardant line that will hopefully keep it from running up overnight.
