At 2:30 PM the Coronado National Forest transitioned leadership of the Raspberry Fire to Incident Commander Chad Rice and Incident Commander Trainee Eric Huddleston of the Southwest Type 3 Incident Management Team. The Chiricahua Wilderness in the Douglas Ranger District began to get thunderstorms at about 2:00 PM today and have continued to experience them since. Firefighters were brought down from the mountain for their safety due to incoming lightning. Prior to that, crews had been working to strengthen the containment lines. Helicopter support was not available today due to the weather. The fire continues to hold at 489-acres with 0% containment. The team has retained 1 engine, 4 crews, and 3 helicopters. The fire continues to threaten the Monte Vista Lookout and a repeater tower, but firefighters have continued prep work to protect these values.
