AZ-COF-Tunnel?

So took a drive up to Mormon Lake Fire for my Marine Son to visit his former fire chief boss. Winds were gusting 30+ from the south. Could see a lot of drift smoke north of Flag, but no discernable column.

This morning looks to be rain on the horizon, but nothing yet here in the Verde Valley. Temp has dropped 30* in the last 18 hours and winds are still out of the south at 10, gusting at 20+. I live close to the toe of the slope of Mingus Mt in Clarkdale.

Hoping for a significant change in the weather (moisture) for these two fires here in the High Country. Both these fires caught many of the LG off guard. Literally, many had just completed their R130 and pack test within the last week. Be safe and hydrate.

Carry on.

Yep, and I hear some local agencies upstaffing for the event (lol, no such thing as a staffing pattern in Northern AZ). Quiet a few out of region FS type 3’s milling around Flag today.
Tunnel fire had been dropped down to a type 4 incident.
