Looks like the Dragon added about 20,000 acres to the north end, yesterday.

Yikes!! Respectfully have major beef with the statement "the only person to blame here is Smokey the Bear.” For sure not easy to have cameras/mic in your face trying to explain this fire - named Dragon - to an angry outspoken mob of press, politicals and citizenry who blame you for burning down their lodge et al. Like so many other things - we the people have legislated ourselves into the issues that years of suppression bring to a fire dependent planet & the effects of a naturally always changing climate that does not care about human interaction or legislation within those ecosystems.. Gotta stop blaming bears & lightning is what i’m trying to say. Sending T’s & P’s to all the troops in this fight and hopefully they know how much their service is greatly appreciated.

Interesting situation on the ground last night with large amounts of firing between main body of fire and the Kaibab Lodge. Today is critically dry, curious how their move will play out.

Geeking out hard - it’s a two-livestream sort of day, here at The Lookout!
This afternoon we got a drop of Sentinel satellite imagery for the Dragon Bravo and Monroe Canyon Fires, in Arizona and Utah, which catches both fires in the midst of kicking some serious ass!

We interpret the hours-old infrared satellite imagery, talk about the use of drones for firing operations, discuss circumstances where high-severity timber fires may be ecologically beneficial or normal, and spot some recent large-scale fuels management projects that got smoked in the past couple days.

Lots of firing took place along and East of the 67 road, things are looking much better than a few days ago. The Head of the fire has been working it’s way west around the 2023 Kane. They have a chance to make real progress right now.
