I don’t have a lot of details - but east of Globe near 177/77/Hwy 60 - all with closures and evacs starting.

25,000 acres per latest twitter - evacs at Oak Flat campgrounds and pre-evacs in several other locations.

RFW in this area - down here in the valley it is major windy and dry also.

TNF is also working the “Mescal” incident - not sure which is where etc. that one is about 10K acres with evacs also.

Live 10 pm news shots and Twitter pics showing really active fire for this time of night and a wind INCREASE in the last hour.

Tomorrow expected a wind direction shift but still in the 25 mph range.

  • Active fire behavior (Uphill Runs). Projected Activity: Expect fire to continue moving downslope on the north - east - and south aspects of Pinal Mountain. Fire will likely flank west from Sixshooter Canyon into Icehouse Canyon. Slow but steady progression of backing fire from higher elevation towards lower elevations under very hot - but light wind conditions.

Yes - very visible from parts of the valley overnight - new evacs for the El Capitan area within the last hour.

still has a big heat signature. any intel from IR flights? be interesting to see what tomorrows AC/containment figures will be. I do not think the present reported 74% containment will hold.

A lot of that heat signature seems to be the column according to ground intelligence.
