New fire in AEU near Georgetown, I believe it started as a structure fire about 30 min ago. It spotted across then canyon and is running up hill. I don’t have any other info at this time. Near Coon Creek Rd off Georgetown Rd. Aircraft on order.
Initial report for the vegetation fire was half to one acre moving up hill.
Off it goes…
Fires in Georgetown often seem to get very large
AA is still en-route but has ordered a LAT and extra Copter from a distance. Law Enforcement en-route for Evacuations.
The fire is now 4-5 acres w/ moderate rate of spread & is making short runs in timber, 2 structures are immediately threatened - tankers have dropped retardant in front of those . Tanker131 a C130 just passed over Paradise. Almost to Grass Valley now
Spotting too. One is pretty far out.
Looks some some short range spotting. 2 spots out ahead.
I imagine we’ll start hearing some significant resource orders going out.
That C130 continued southward at 11000 feet. Going somewhere else…
It’s been awhile, but if my memory serves me correctly there are a significant number of structures dotted all thru the area.
Tankers were doing defensive drops around a few structures.
