IA thread started. From SoCal mountains forum 6 minutes ago: Ground units performing a tactical retreat on some of the fronts due to extreme fire behavior. CHP and SO on scene. Shutting down any access to lytle creek canyon. Starting Evacuation of all recreation folks in the air. No evacuation orders for any residents at this time. Numerous Aircraft over the fire with the VLAT (Very Large Air Tanker) requested.
From personal experience the terrain there is absolutely unforgivable.
Unless Iām mistaken, I believe the sheep fire 09 started in the same area.

Totally agree. First season was on 33 (before it was 333), father was LE for the canyon for 10 yearsā¦ Spent way too much time in that area. Steep, inaccessible, and unpredictable
Was never a good sign rolling out of Mormon Rocks with smoke showing from the Cajon in Lytle Creek
Aug 16th 2016 it took a lot defending/saving Mormon Rocks station on 138. Very chaotic!
Either that or Lone Pine Canyon
Was air attack that afternoon on the Blue Cut in 2016. Fire behavior was extreme being wind and fuel driven up the Cajon pass.
