The Oroville Fire Department and Cal Fire-Butte County crews responded to a fire Thursday afternoon that originated in the area of Old Ferry Road near the Feather River Nature Center bath house museum next to the Feather River.
The fire, referred to as the “Ferry Fire,” was reported before 2 p.m., and according to radio dispatches, initially had a moderate rate of spread with a threat to structures in the area.
Responding resources quickly got a handle on it. By 2:50 p.m., forward progress had been stopped and the fire was holding, according to a Twitter post from Cal Fire-Butte County. The Oroville Fire Department measured the final size of the fire at 6.7 acres. Additionally, no structures sustained damage and no one was injured.
