AA 210 inbound with two tankers
This fire is burning along the west side of the Sacramento River in heavy jungle fuels. Last report was 300+ acres and unknown containment. Multiple resources from Colusa, Sutter, Glen, CalFire LNU and TGU. Additionally 2 tankers and air attack just got on scene. They are having a big issue with spotting and the fire has spotted across the river in several location and well as some other fires now being reported downwind under the column. I think this started in the Sacrament River Fire District area but not sure.
According to Air attack - 500 acres 30% contained
Updated youtube live from KCRA, on station for just about an hour now…
I can’t imagine the mop up on this one, and resource commitment considering it’s LRA. What a mess. Tehama had a smaller but similar fire on the river. Was Sac River US Fish Wildlife so MNF ended up managing the extended attack/mop up.
MMA some fire boats. An op period or two and they’d crush it. They can flow thousands of gallons of water, and it’ll filter right back to the river. The bulk of the heavy fuels are within reach of smoothbores
Class a foam? I hope not. Salmon don’t like it so much.
That’s just an idea. Leave lots of engines available for fires with real potential
Looks like it woke up and is spotting ahead of itself.
