CA-ENF-Caldor?

I’m not passing blame or anything here, just from what has already been said, read or reported. Don’t shoot the messenger.

@Eweturn As already mentioned, this is a USFS managed fire which is stretched thin at the current moment. I believe CalFire sent a team yesterday to manage it, but it takes time to fully mobilize and get operational. Things should start properly flowing here later today/tomorrow morning if history plays out correctly.

Until then, it has a been a local show which they are more than likely busy dealing with the fire/life safety issues and are also stretched thin. I agree, better info would be helpful for all those in the affected areas. Understand not the response you are looking for, but it is what it is during this very difficult year that is really just starting from a historical standpoint.

There is a PIO booth set up at the Veterans Hall next to the fair grounds that you can get info at. There is also a phone number you can call. Social media has a lot of information as well

I live on Lakeridge, power is on so my Ring security cams are still working. Was some light ash last night but cleared up around 0800, smoke was thick but not any thicker than it was yesterday when evacuations started.

What is the plan of attack. Where do we stand in the south west corner- Omo- Fairplay. Who can we ask these questions of without having to drive a half an hour up to PVille. Will there be a briefing for the public. We packed up a lot of senior folks last night.

And the returning west winds look like they will stay awhile. Kind of like a saw moving in alternate directions. Not helpful.

Did anyone catch the Air Tactics conversation about the fires in the “west potentially all merging?”

I believe the plan of attack is keep it south of 50 and protect all the structures. If you have been told to evacuate, do so. We have seen a lot of people this year not do that and have ended up hurt. If not, wait for the call. The IAP is available online and there are several websites that have information. Inciweb, and Cafire.gov. Are a few. I am sure it must be frustrating and scary not knowing as it happens information but, tactics and strategies change frequently with incidents this complex. Trust that all involved are doing their very best to keep life and property loss at a 0.

Sounds like Caldor fire is losing some aircraft, probably to the Cache fire that just started in LNU.

How accurate are these forecasts?

That’s one damn good Air Attack Sup I’ve been listening to.

“Ok gonna string it along here…and watch out for that cell tower…”

Sounds like he is in the zone…

Anyone know the threat to pollock pines? Have family that evacuated from there?

I’m in sly park hills. Light winds out of SW- maybe 8 mph. Light smoke. Everything here appears to be calm

Looking at the map from today it looks to be 3-4 miles south still?

Per wife. Chp has shut down traffic on pleasant valley road and not letting cars up the hill as of 1500. As of this morning, there was no traffic control up or down. Not sure if danger level has increased or just more organized now

Was listening to the two air attacks talking between each other (relief)…definitely some frustration with ground troops not following up on their work from the air. Guessing things are stretched pretty thin on the ground

I still say the winds won’t develop in EDC. It’s too early in the season.
