Camping at Whitney portal last night there were wind gusts probably up to 50mph
In the late 90’s did a lot of project work in that area running crews. Sage brush was waist to chest high in places. Unless it hits an old burn scar, lava escarpments or the wind quits it has room to run.
Looks like this fire is going to Team 11 now.
Lastnight saw big runs on all flanks sheeting in brush constant wind shifts at least 60 ft flame lengths yup that’s the Owens valley.

Team 11 shows in brief today at 1800hrs.
The 2 type one tankers out of Fresno were flying several load and returns from 1700 until cut off.
They also had 5 tankers flying out of porterville. 3 S2’S, a c130, and a bae146.
N40Y is over the fire.
Fire is at 10,500 acres 10% containment this morning.
T-01, 15, 76, 80, 82, 163 are all in the air for this fire.
The wind picking up now gusting to 27 mph at oak creek raws and the fire activity appears to be doing the same.

It laid down a lot during the night and the winds didn’t materialize like they a few nights ago.
