INCIDENT NARRATIVE: Squirrel Mountain Valley, CA - At 2:42 pm firefighters from multiple agencies were dispatched to reports of a vegetation fire in the Kern River Valley. Firefighters arrived to find a fire immediately threatening one home with a potential threat to additional homes. Firefighters initial efforts were to protect the threatened homes and slow the spreading fire. As additional firefighters and air support arrived the coordinated efforts greatly reduced the threat to nearby homes and was successful in limiting the fire’s forward progress. Firefighters will continue to work through the night to completely stop the forward progress of the fire while working to reach full containment. There were no injuries reported to citizens or firefighters during today’s operations.
