CA-LAC-Post??

I heard conversation stating the fire jumped a road ( didn’t hear name) threatening to jump freeway. The only road I can think of is pyramid lake road. It parallels the I-5 and it’s just a couple hundred yards off of the 5 freeway.

Headquarters station? Huh? You mean the ANF station below Pyramid Lake? Or something else?

ANF HQ is nowhere near the fire.

Hasn’t that project been going on for 18 or more months?

Keeping fire out of Sespe Wilderness is a really good idea for a lot of reasons, not least of which a 19ft wide, 25lb condor can wreck an aircraft. They are also known to flock to the black.

Thank you IMT Geek for reaffirming CalFire’s legal and financial responsibility within the contract Counties, it is often times overlooked.

It is SRA and ultimately the State of California’s, Aka, CalFires responsibility!!

I completely agree. Tactics in a wilderness becomes tricky.

Unfortunately, I fear it has already crossed. Both VIIRS and MODIS show it as having crossed Buck Creek rd into the Sespe Wilderness.

Only saving grace may be the winds look like they will broadly be north north-east. Still some heavy gusts through tomorrow. Here is the relevant info from a forecast point on buck creek campground.

Credit to all involved, a lot of work to be done in that terrain… and it seems to really have helped that it hit the north facing slope with heavier less receptive fuels. A couple weeks later with that wind and country & this is a t-shirt fire.
