From aerial footage it appears that many homes in this area have very little defensible space. I guess some folks have enough money to rebuild. Even a close-up of Schwarzenegger home showed heavy brush & trees within 20’.

It is unfortunate that certain individuals did not/or do not conform to La’s requirements. Very possible do to politics /money. I worked for LAC and have a high respect for their enforcement and capabilities.But, unfortunately politics is an overriding call. over the years i have seen exceptions…which resulted in continued reburns of the same house. I only hope folks can see the positive of this fire…a lot of homes were saved and no loss of life directly to the fire. LAFD has the best enforcement of clearance and past record of fires without loss to homes. When Santa Ana Winds come in, even the best clearance does not provide absolute guarantee…only the dedication of those going up against the monster…which they all did. HATS off to all involved…it is not a done deal.
