Napa County Sheriff’s Office

Commitment to Community
Advisory: Evacuation Warning: Hwy 128 at Lower Chiles Valley Rd to Turtle Rock due to Hennessey Fire

Weather update from St. Helena Dispatch, “Multiple cells with 50MPH downdrafts moving into the area” and had all acknowledge. The one hour playback shows a good wind shift.

15 minute time lapse shows it really getting legs after the outflow winds from that thunder cell hit.

Yes, in Napa Valley - posh homes and vineyards in the area. Started on Hennessey Ridge Road. We have bizarre weather right now, too. Rain, wind and thunderstorms- lightning strike fires popping up region wide.

More evacuations are in place:

Mandatory evacuations for:

-Sage Canyon Rd from Chiles Pope Valley Rd to Lower Chiles Rd due to Hennessey Fire

-Hwy 128 at Lower Chiles Valley Rd to Turtle Rock due to Hennessey Fire

Evacuation warnings are in place for:

-HWY 128 at Silverado Trl to Chiles Pope Valley Rd including Pritchard Hill area due to fire

Very strong outflow winds from thunderstorm hitting the fire.

It’s a bit larger than 3 acres…

Has to be by the look at it…

AA SAID 300

That’s a good time capture. AA also grounded all aircraft just prior. A good situational awareness trainer for sure.

I was wondering why 3 acres sounded so weird. Thanks for your good ears @firedog1!

There is approximately 3 acres across Chiles Pope Valley Rd but the main fire on Hennessey Ridge is well in excess of that.

An IA Thread has been established for the Hennessey Fire here: Hennessey IA

The fire isn’t in Napa Valley, it’s more eastern napa county. So the fire will not have the same delta influence that a fire in the valley would.

Per the Berryessa Cam it looks like the fire has reached the west shore of the lake. Can anyone verify if that is the case?

Yes, it reached the west shore several hours ago.

N350FV over the fire for mapping

Going to venture a guess that the mapping is going to increase the acreage significantly. There is a whole lot more acres than 10K between Hennessey Ridge Road and the West shore of Lake Berryessa and out to Pleasants Valley Rd.
