Looks like it is wind and slope aligned at this time. Dispatched as “field on fire” on LNU.
2100 Old Soda Springs Road
Definitely doesn’t look like a field. Haha.
This will be inside the 2017 Atlas Fire footprint but will have a lot of room to run.
At the moment I was watching on Lower Mt. Veeder it spotted well ahead of itself on the left flank. According to Google Earth, there are several structures on the right flank.
AA 500 saying about 40 acres, moderate rate of speed.
From what I am seeing comparing the camera with Google Maps/Earth it’s getting into some more rugged terrain, but sparely populated with light fuels.
(Edit)…And the wind just shifted, pushing it into that steeper terrain.
It gets very rugged in there both to the immediate north of the left flank and up towards Atlas Peak to the east. It’s all going to be relatively light flashy fuel with some oak in there. Most of the chaparral was cleaned out in the Atlas Fire
Report of numerous structures now burning and many more immediately threatened.
The Channel 7 copter has been overhead for a little bit. Not seeing any dark columns resembling structures.

An evacuation center has been set up at Crosswalk Community Church, 2590 First Street, Napa. Per Nixle, “Evacuees in need of food, water, or charging stations are welcome to utilize the Napa County evacuation center. Accommodations for overnight shelter may be announced, if needed.”
The wind seems to have calmed and the column has greatly reduced, at least that is how it looks from City of Napa.
Per watch duty 570 acres 5% contained
Per CalFire, no structures lost or damaged.
