Keep in mind that the IR effects from the camera make the fire intensity look greater than it is. What you are looking at here is relatively low intensity burning. They are protecting the site and letting the fuels consume to get some good black around the site.
The Mt Jackson repeater has been prepped for the last two days. PG&E puts thousands of gallons of retardant in and around the site. The repeater will tolerate a surface fire no problem. It will not tolerate a crown fire.
Watching the crew try to maintain a foothold on Mt Jackson…any update from the ground?
Added a couple evac zones to this area…
What is the difference in channels being monitored between the 2 scanners labeled
Sonoma Co Calfire vs Sonoma Co Northwest ???
With the Weather coming in , Any progress on getting lines/natural barriers established along river in Div I/L to keep fire from crossing .
Evac Orders downgraded to
Warnings in many areas between West of Windsor . Guess there is some progress being made on the line ?
Strange they would down grade those with the weather event coming in.
Especially with winds expected to be 15-25 mph from the south west. Watching this system develop I am very surprised they are downgrading anything; I was forseeing them put the whole county on warning and say be ready but don’t expect to evacuate.
Yes I thought maybe it was a mistake at first but it appears to be coming from multiple sources . Guess they are less worried about the fire activity than before .
Has anyone heard radio traffic today? Do they have a better handle on open fire? I would assume so to life those evac orders.
Morning update. Lots of progress.
Big uptick on Mt Jackson in the last 30 mins…winds up, power outages…tough night ahead.
Starting to down grade more evacuation orders down to warnings. They must be getting a handle on it
Yeah, I’m back on a ridge between caz and sea view and the general feeling I’m getting from folks is exhausted relief.
Anyone know if the smoke showing on the Oakridge webcam is a new fire or something attached to a burn?
I think it is part of the Walbridge, but I am not sure.
Thanks, you can also see it over the hill from another webcam, Mohrhardt Ridge. In that view it seems to be dissipating.
Hopefully lots of interior pockets just burning out.
Yes sir you can.
