New fire on the Modoc. Large plume on satellite and radar. There was lightning in this exact spot last night.

Any rough idea on general location or direction using Alturas as a starting point?

According to the legal on Wild Cad it is about 25 miles west of Altruas.

Due west of Canby (west of Alturas).

9.5 miles at 254 degrees from Canby

Mandatory evacuation orders and road closures remain in place:

Evacuations:
West side of Highway 139 from Ambrose to Canby north of 299, including County Roads 214 and 215.

County Road 84, west of Highway 299, County Road 85, and east of the fire’s edge, and the north side of Highway 299 between County Roads 84 and 85.

Closures:
Highway 299 from 10.7 miles east of Adin to the northwest junction of State Route 139 in Canby.

The fire remained active last night. The fire crews and dozers made great progress along the fire edge to control the fire spread and provide structure defense. Today, crews will work to improve and hold the lines constructed along Highway 299 and County Road 85 to County Road 91.

Stone Fire AM Update, August 20, 2018
A PUBLIC MEETING will be held today at the Canby Community Hall at 4 p.m.
The fire remained active last night and is currently 22,610 acres and 0% contained. The fire crews and dozers made great progress along the fire edge to control the fire spread and provide structure defense. Containment lines were strengthened on the northeast section of the fire and the dozer line above Highway 299 is holding. North winds pushed the fire towards Highway 299 south of Highway 139, the fire held on the west side of the highway. The fire was very active in the southeast section of the fire, where a small portion of the fire crossed County Road 85. Direct and indirect dozer lines were established on the east side and west side of the fire. Dozer and hand crews built line to the Pit River and continued to prep County Road 85 to the west.

Today, crews will work to improve and hold the lines constructed along Highway 299 and County Road 85 to County Road 91. Structure defense continues to be a priority and assessment around northern perimeter of the fire for areas to establish control lines.

Mandatory evacuation orders remain in effect for the following areas:
