Firing off in the evening? Interesting :thinking:. Would of thought morning or night.

The weather and topography for this project necessitate a burn window of 1800-2359

Interesting, I’m assuming they want the up slope winds ?

maybe… but just thinking of my best conditions for fireline control was night conditions…why not talked every advantage available to us???

This is a very narrow long burn, road 200 is an upslope section, as you head south along 41 it varies between flat upslope and down slope, then transitions to fairly flat as you head south towards highway 145. They also chose evening because the traffic is lighter and they could finish plumbing the area during the day. 11 mile burn but the widest section is only 100 ft I think.

Good to know, I’m not super familiar with Madera. I’m a little south in Fresno county

They have a slop over and something else going on.

Looks like they are getting the slop mopped up.

The burn will resume in about ten minutes from road 208 to avenue 15.

It’s great that they’re doing this - it was a standard practice back in the 60’s to the mid 1970’s. A lot of fires start on the east side of Highway 41.
