Fire is 15 to 20 acres in grass and oak with a moderate rate of spread, per unit on scene. Structures are threatened on Piney Creek Road and Merced Falls Road. Additional 2 type 3 air tankers and 1 type 1 copter requested by air attack.
Note: Location of the fire has been revised and moved south.
They might lose a tanker new start in Sonora below the ridge from my house. It’s Stockton RD X 108.
Asked for a strike team of type 3’s, told they will fill with closest engines due to TCU’s fire
Looking at the column from LaGrange, it’s got a head of steam

No divert on several tankers…was too scratchy to make them out
A lot of brush fields, oak woodland, gray pine and grass patches along with lots of granite(rock) in places from Blanchard to Coulterville. With a lot of houses sitting in all that. It is terrain and fuel driven right now.
I’m a bit confused about the direction this is headed and where it started (I’ve seen differing info). Is the fire moving east or south or SE? And is it on the west or east side of the lake? Thanks
Wind appears to be WNW, so I’d expect the fire to grow mostly to the ESE, with some potential uphill growth to the NE.
Keep hearing Piney Creek Rd so your pretty acurate in your assement.
I saw the perimeter map on Watch Duty now and understand why I kept hearing what seemed like conflicting info to me (as far as the location)… I didn’t realize the fire is on both sides of the water.
The engine at Blanchard stated making a hard run to Merced Falls road with spots when the fire first started. I haven’t heard to much more about that side of the fire.
Sounds like that part of the fire is running towards Barret Cove. Hopefully they can pinch it off before it runs that far.
TKR911 arrived
Is it debris on the Greeley hill cam or when you zoom in does it look like spots way out in front between the column and Coulterville?
Looks like dirt.
Maybe debris, or more likely just the way the light is filtered through the column and reflecting off smoke.
If it continues towards the Detwiler burn scar the regrowth is plenty. The chemise is 4-5 ft tall. The winds typically take the fires south and East this time of day. I’m certain you’ll see evac warnings and orders coming for Coulterville if not already in place.
