3792 acres and 15% contained at this point. Still hearing radio traffic for the Hunters Valley side mostly. Div S and V are their concerns.
Anyone find any files for it yet? I haven’t.

Up to 25% contained. Little growth.
Everything is looking very well in all Divisions as far as smoke production / active fire behavior.
There are lines surrounding almost 100% of the incident. Unfortunately some is indirect, this is due to the lack of available crews to cut where Dozers don’t have favorable ground.
The crews that are assigned are working diligently, they are simply shorthanded. Ground resources continue to utilize helicopters to keep areas without direct line in check while slowly making progress locking areas of lined portions off.
Div S and Div V are the portions with steep hard to access areas where the most potential exists. This is the Bear Valley side that spotted southerly across the lake (Hunters Peak). Many contingency lines are in but thick chemise will be primary carrier.
ST of engines turned into a handcrew. May not be pretty, we used to do it at times.
You don’t have to put a freeway in, just enough line to support containment.
Wind is up and moving nearby. Bringing a tiny bit of precip with it
It’s especially challenging when you use an Alpha strike team as a hand crew. Just gotta gather the correct tools!!
Getting sprinkles at the ICP
Yes well when you have 1 ST to secure a mile of fresh cut line and 2 10 person hand crews for a whole Division it’s not viable.
Can’t lose what you have just to chase what you want in the future. The thought is definitely there it’s more about being strung so thin and with resources essentially that worked a 36, followed by 8 hours rest followed by a 24 on.
There are plenty of FFs at Blanchard Station ready to work…
Morning report shows a 3-0 cover engine at Blanchard, doing their job running calls and taking care of the station. Maybe I’m missing the point of your response?
Hmm… I know for a fact that they’re 4-0 but one of them isn’t on the list for some reason. They were told yesterday that they were going to help with mop up but then nothing. They were told again this morning they were going out to mop up and then nothing again… Station is 5 minutes from Pedro fire. My comment was in response to the complaint that there weren’t enough resources on Pedro. They’re right there.
I see. That is information that’s not my business I’m just stating what I’m seeing on morning report. The game of moving resources around is far above my pay grade but what I think Frank_strong is getting at was what many people were seeing the first day or two after the IA. My buddies on separate STs got extended into a second shift. Not something that adding 1 engine into the mix is going to fix. Again, discussing drawdown is above my understanding but I think we’re talking the difference of having a handful more strike teams, not just an additional engine or two.
I mean, are they really upset that they aren’t out in 100+ mopping up a 4 day old fire? I’d rather be in position to IA something but that’s just me.
I can’t speculate as to how they’re feeling (I mean, I can… not going to). I just know the facts regarding their pattern and what they’ve been told.
Everyone should stop arm chairing and second guessing the unit and fire’s decision for such. They have their reasons, like it or not. Lets stay on the fire and it’s status eh?
Heard.
40% containment as of 10 hours ago.
You were right, btw. It is 3-0. They have one FF unassigned at Blanchard…
70% contained this afternoon
