CA-MNF-Eel?? (Was MEU-Eel???)

New fire off Mendocino Pass Rd. Last heard was 200 acres, w/ structure threat. Anyone have anything new on this?

Just caught some scratchy info on an online scanner.

Objectives:
South of Indian Dick Rd.
North of Mendocino Pass Rd.
East of Anthony Peak
West of the guard station

IC says “it’s blowing up at the head” 2 more LAT’s on order structures threatened

Took this from Covelo Face Book Page

East of the guard station is mostly MNF. This should be a fed show.

Any word on containment? What did this thing do overnight?

I’m sure info will be shared as it is found.

Looking at visible sat this morning the coastal fog layer made it very close down the Eel River drainage, roughly 20mi from the fire it looks like, and still there slowly burning off. Covelo is 62 degrees and 50% RH. While the Complex, Carr and Whaleback are significant on Shortwave IR, this guy isn’t registering at all this morning yet, but visible does have defined smoke.

By MODIS, it looks like it has stayed in the Bar Creek drainage, defined by Anthony Ridge to the south, the M1 to the west and Boardman Ridge to the north.

How far outside of the Pass Fire scar is this?
That fire was very much inversion driven
Smoked out every morning, but once the inversion lifted, it was off and running.

Bar Creek drainage and the fire looks all within the Pass Fire (that was 2012 where did time go!?) The southern edge of the Pass Fire was held on the lower part of Anthony Ridge, similar to the MODIS hits on this fire. Comparing the perimeter to the google map image above, you can definitely discern the scar above in the darker “olive” color vs obvious grasses or green timber.

Any talk of an IMT.

Is NorCal Team 2 taking over command?

They are all assigned, I think Central Coast team is up

Nor Cal Team 2 is supporting Type 3 Organization managing the Eel Fire. Nor Cal Team 2 is still in Unified Command on the Mendocino Complex.
