This is reported to be at least 2 fires well up on the ridge above Indian Valley College in Novato. This was possibly started by a carjacking suspect that the PD was chasing and was last seen with a gun going up the ridge.

What happened? Seems like the fire and alleged gunman just vanished.
All three fires were small in size and quickly contained. The carjacking suspect is still outstanding. It has not been confirmed what started these fires, possibly lightning holdovers, but seems suspicious that they would start right when this suspect is running up the hill towards where the fires occured.

Last I heard was forward rate of spread stopped. As of 2300hrs, SWAT was deploying. That trailhead leads up to 12,000 acres of open space and private hunting lands. Not sure what happened to the bad guy, but it would be really easy to hide there.
