It looks like it is hitting an inversion. Still, it looks larger than anything else I’ve seen in Marin for some time.
Looks north side of Big Rock Ridge, hasn’t burned in many years, grassy oak woodlands, some brush. Structures below the fire. Started about 4am this morning.

Blackstone Canyon. Southeast of Big Rock Ridge. Gets the morning sun. Steep. Brushy. Fire roads on nearby ridges but depending on how far it’s spread it could easily burn a couple hundred acres just because of access issues.
Marin Fire has done a ton of prep work on this ridge in the past several years. Still a lot of fuel up there, but much better than it was a few years ago.
The last major fire in that part and slope of Blackstone canyon hasn’t burn since late 60’s. Novato chief burned severely, multiple structures lost.

“Pic swing”?
Bet that’s speech to text for “fixed wing”…
18 acres and 25% contained. Great work in a crappy location.
