I’m at Station 79 at Donovan Prison. I’ve been looking at it since the header popped up. It’s pretty small right now. It’s about mid-slope on the west aspect of Otay Mtn.

2 patients in the area of the fire. One of them started the fire in hopes of getting medical attention. https://calls.broadcastify.com/111/1654469737-919.mp3

Well, I guess it worked. I saw the header and called it in. Though, that could end badly for everyone if it turned into another Cedar Fire 2003.

These people who come illegally have been doing this since the 80’s. They come across here to avoid the BP-ICE in very rugged terrain, not prepared for it and then light fires to be rescued.

One year we had a number of about 75 fires, which the series all named “Border # “ and most didn’t get big. As the CF AA, I flew about 35 of them with tankers and copters. The incident cost were high with all the resources, maybe we should have billed the US Government?

My station is at the bottom of Otay Mtn - we do encounter undocumented immigrants often enough. They usually walk right up to the prison because they are ready to give up. Our stn is outside the prison fence, so a Sergeant and I will go intercept them. They’re super cooperative when I pull up to them. They usually sit down, tell me their names, where they are from, etc. BP will them come and pick them up. The majority of these immigrants told me that they had hiked down from Otay Mtn without food or water. Some have told me that they were out there for 2-3 days. I started driving with waters and Gatorades in our utility for that reason. BP is all over the area with heavy coverage; so, I imagine we don’t see as many as you did in the 1980s-2000s

Where I come from, we call the UDA’s (undocumented aliens) and would give them water, gatos, mre’s, ice and medical treatment if needed.

I was threatened by my CF supervisor many years ago that I would be written up if I called them UDA’s. They were to be called "international travelers " and to be given water only.

They are still Human Beings no matter what they are called. Thanks for giving the attention needed to them. It’s called compassion and doing the right thing.

All credit to Onscene.tv and 911videonews…. Not my footage at all. They got a great capture of the fire, air attack, ground response and the helicopter hoist ops.
