This area hasn’t has a fire of any major kind since at least 1954

Fire is 125 acres with a dangerous rate of spread. Evacuees heading west should go to the park & ride at I-15 & Hwy 76. Evacuees heading east should go to the Pauma Casino parking lot. Only evacuation warnings have been issued, no evacuation orders at this time.

Update…AA has a trigger point for ordering the VLAT. He will know in the next 15 minutes. Trigger point is if it gets onto the Pala Tribal land

#MesaFire [Update] The Fire is currently 260 acres and 0% contained. Hwy 76 is closed from Horse Creek Ranch to Pala Casino. Temporary Evacuation Points are now Valley Center High School and I 15 X Hwy 76 Park and Ride.

Fire is 315 acres. Smoke is starting to clear out which will allow for tankers to drop on the head of the fire. Tankers 70, 72, 100, & 131 are on load and return. Copters 10, 11, 139, 301, & 538 are also on scene working.

#MesaFire [Update] Evacuation warnings have been lifted, and the temporary evacuation points have been closed. Additionally, Hwy 76 has been reopened. Firefighters will be working through the night, so drive cautiously when in the area.
