CA-MVU-Volcan??

5 acres mid slope, half way up Volcan Mountain in the Julian area. Initial reports came in as plane down. The Fire is hike or fly in only due to very steep terrain and has a SROS. Crews watched the Fire overnight and have requested Aircraft back over the Fire this morning. There is a high wind watch in the area of the Fire.

Crews have finally reached the Fire’s edge, they are calling it 10 acres. Access and Terrain are the biggest challenges for today. Access is off of Volcan Rd at Farmer Rd.

IC has requested HT-731. Looks like the Fire is being run on XSD CMD 1 and XSD TAC 1. The Fire is inside Arkansas Canyon on the backside of Volcan MTN. AA-330 is also overhead and is Volcan AA. They have also ordered FAA and a USAR Rig to stage at Stn # 50.

1130 am. AA putting Tanker 85 and 96 on load and hold at Ramona. Tanker ops are shut down due to weather. Rotary wing to continue working the Fire.

1230 pm: The wreckage of a downed plane has been found in the area of the Fire.

As of tonight this Fire is 12 acres and 30 % Contained. The wreckage is that of a downed twin engine Beechcraft. Steep terrain and gusty winds have been the challenges today.

This fire was contained yesterday. Unfortunately 3 bodies were found in the wreckage.
