Not messing around anymore! The commitment to keeping them as small as possible by ordering 3 VLAT’s! In that urban interface, the justification is there.
Everyone knows that area I agree, slam the door on this thing ASAP!!!
100 percent agree with you.
Yeah agree 100%!
No mandatory evacuations at this time.

No slope reversal on this thing yet right? In the middle fork drainage on the Foresthill side?
According to KCRA on the 1800 update, yes. A spot(s) in the Middle Fork, but I have no idea if this is confirmed by CF?
I could be wrong but most of the images I have seen and maps available seem to show spread up the middle fork.
That is correct, at least based on the mapping ajohansson posted on the IA thread. It’s on the Forest Hill side. They’ve been trying to hold it above Old Forest Hill Road, though they’ve had some problems with rollout. I don’t know if they’ve successfully held the road. They also were discussing a firing op off that road.
The fire is in the middle fork drainage, currently burning between Old Foresthill Rd and Foresthill Rd with it jumping Foresthill Rd. The Foresthill Divide runs between the north fork and the middle fork of the American River. Lake Clementine sits in the north fork which may keep it from getting too well established in the middle fork. However with the fuels this fire season anything is possible.
Drove FH road home this morning. All looks good. Great Stop! Several interior smokers and one ugly looking one down on old FH rd. Chewed up all that brush and manzanita on the north side of the road with the Fuelbreak trail holding it.
Does anyone know how this started, from Caldor or other related fire activity or something else?
Under investigation. But certainly nothing related to Caldor or any other Nor Cal fire. The origin was down along the water. I’ve been up here since the early 2000’s and it’s burned several times. Quite often those fires can be attributed to people, a recreational area, and dry vegetation. That combo has created this situation before.
There’s a good compilation of video footage from the fire posted on Sac Bee’s web site. I think you can watch the video without accessing the pay site. If not, open the link in a private window.
