Up in Modoc county, west of the town of Likely. 35 acres, moving to the east with winds from the west at 11 mph.
Camera: ALERTCalifornia - Likely Mtn 2
Lots of tankers being put on it and a gaggle of helicopters. T181, T133, and T121 are the LATs. CalFire’s apparently still short on S2s at the moment, only T94 (& T93) on this.
Per CAL FIRE now 50 acres
It’s a Fed incident past the initial dispatch, pretty common to prioritize contracted Fed tankers if available.
Updated perimeter of 276 acres.
True, but there also aren’t any S-2s in Chico at the moment, which is why T181 is taking over their work. They’ve been up a couple of times on little jobs you’d expect the S-2s for.
CAL FIRE has multiple Aircraft on EU Contract again this season
Type 1 & Type 2 AT, including T181
Type 1, Type 2, & Type 3 Helicopters. Including 3 night flying Type 1 that start as late as 1500hr each day and 1 T3 Night flying Helco platform.
Finally, 1 Contract AA and 1 Intel ship
This fire has been going on for a few hours now. Any update or resource order yet?
Judging by the cameras, activity is decreasing. I’m sure they will get around it tonight.
Interesting area to fight fire in. Interesting & challenging wind profile profile out there sometimes makes life difficult and then some. I like it when sun goes down & fire goes out in that country. Unfortunately that isn’t always the case but when it happens its a good thing.. Imo. ![]()
