The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office has issued an evacuation advisory for the Sugar Fire east of Maddelena Road and Sugarloaf Mountain to Goodwin Ranch.
The Sugar Fire is 300 acres in size as of Saturday morning, burning in grass, brush, and timber.
According to the Plumas National Forest, several homes were evacuated during the initial attack by the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office.Resources to fight the Sugar Fire have been diverted from the Dotta Fire to assist. The fire burned across Highway 70 in Sierra Valley and caused a temporary closure of the road.Structures remain threatened, says officials with the Plumas National Forest.Hwy 70 is open.
There is a Red Flag Warning for dry lightning and gusty winds in the fire area from Saturday night at 11:00 p.m. to Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
