In Juniper Springs w/o Hemet:
ALERTCalifornia - Box Springs Mtn 2
CMD: RRU 2
B3111 calling a high state and County Veggie response for a well established fire in the Juniper flat area.
2 acres, light fuels, MROS, structures threaten.
Per AA: 4-5 acres, MROS to DROS, structures threatened, requesting (2) additional tankers and (1) copter.
Aircraft assigned: A310, T71, T85, H535
Resource competition for aircraft in May is insanity. AA states the fire crossed a dirt road and is heading for another road., not optimistic about holding it if it crosses the second road
IC: request (10) additional closest engines.
Per AA: Jumped the road he didn’t want it to and making a hard run towards structures.
Well established now:
Spotted well ahead of itself now.
AA asking for (2) LAT’s and (1) additional copter. Also no divert on tankers.
Per AA: 125 acres
150 acres with moderate ROS, multiple structures destroyed. Still a structure threat. Fire split into three heads… with general movement towards the south.
175+ acres with dangerous ROS, potential for 500 acres.
The fire is chewing through the retardant in heavier fuels on the eastern slope towards California Avenue. Moving resources that way
T107 did a drop on the left flank but it looks like the first half of the drop drifted into the black.
Holding at 200 per AA
Pretty good sized spot fire across the line on the left flank.
That slop burned downhill and then got back into alignment and is making a big run now.
